7 things every new believer should know

7 things every new believer should know

Your journey as a new believer can be pretty scary and confusing.

You are new to the family, you don’t understand what the bible is saying, you’re torn between what is right and wrong.

Everyone has an advice for you, you’re invited to several bible studies and…

You can’t say no you’re scared that will count as a sin.

You’re walking on your toes in life, you keep apologizing every second, you force yourself to read scriptures and pray even when you understand what you’re doing.

If you keep this up for a month or more, Christianity will feel like a bondage instead of a love relationship with God.

That’s why it’s wise for a new believer to understand certain key points about your new found love-walk with God.

P.S There will be a lot of scriptures in this post.

1. You are a new creature

If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature old things are passed away behold all things have become new” 2 Cor 5:17

The moment you accept Jesus as God’s son, the savior of the world and your lord, all your sins are forgiven and forgotten.

Picture this for a moment…

If you’ve a stain on your white shirt, you need to use stain removal to get it out. Once you pour in the stain removal, the stain goes off without a remnant.

That’s what the bible says.

You’re no longer that guy who steals or that lady who cheat people, you are a new creature.

That person is dead and gone, Jesus doesn’t remember you as that person, you shouldn’t remember yourself as such either.

But how about people who knew me as that person?

The person they knew is dead and your new character will be the proof.

Live your new life as a changed person, that’s all God expects from you.

2. You’re an ambassador for Christ

As a new believer, you are an ambassador for Christ.

An ambassador is a representative of a country in an international country.

This means earth is no longer your home, you’re an ambassador representing your home (heaven) here on earth.

Every ambassador of a country wants to portray his/her country as a great place for individuals to visit and that’s your role.

Your words, speech, actions and behavior should represent your country jn a positive manner. (1 Thes 4:11).

You represent Christ on earth, hence, you must treat yourself with respect, honour and uphold the name of Christ wherever you are found.

3. Growth takes time, diligence and consistency

If a newborn baby becomes an adult in 24 hours, the entire world will be shocked.

Young believer, you are a new born Christian and you can’t expect to know everything in 24 hours, it is impossible.

One verse of the bible can be interpreted in 100 ways by different people…

That’s how amazing the scriptures are.

To grow as a new believer, you need to sacrifice your time to attend bible meetings, study the scripture, put what you’ve learnt to practice, pray, fast, read books etc.

All these can take you years to achieve!

And when you feel like you’ve got it figured out God will open your eyes to a deeper understanding of his word – that’s how you’ll grow.

Stop being hard on yourself, put in the daily work and success won’t be far off(Josh 1:8, Psa 1:2).

4. You need the guidance of the Holy Spirit

the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name  will teach you everything and make you remember all that I have told you” John 14:26

It’s impossible to be a successful believer without the help of the Holy Spirit, you can’t do it without him.

The bible says, not by might, not by power but by the spirit(Zec 4:6)

The Holy Spirit is the new believer’s best friend, he is ready to help you, all you need to do is ask for his help.

Don’t forget that you need love, goodness, peace, longsuffering, temperance and humility to succeed as a Christian.

All these virtues are the fruits of the Spirit.

You need the help of the Holy Spirit to become a successful believer.

5. Don’t forsake the gathering of believers

iron sharpeneth iron, so a brother sharpeneth the countenance of his brother”(find the scripture and fix it)

To succeed in your Christian race, you must not neglect the gathering of your fellow believers.

It is convenient to stay at home, pray by yourself and do everything on your own accord but how about what the bible says?

But that’s not what the bible says.

There are some things you can’t handle alone, it’s either your faith is shaking or you haven’t developed that part of your faith.

At this point you need help.

Some people might have the faith of healing but struggle with prosperity, you might not figure this out until you join fellow believers in joint service to God.

In the family of God, we are one.

6. The Holy Spirit never condemns you

The Holy Spirit convicts or rebukes your actions he never condemns you, that will be against Gods word in Romans 8:1 it says…

There is no condemnation now for those who live in union with Christ.

If the Holy Spirit doesn’t condemns you, then who can?

Here is what the scripture says about him; hes like a roaring lion seeking for whom to devour. Condemnation is a tool the devil uses to remind you of your past and bring up issues that God has blotted out.

You are not obliged to listen to him, don’t you dare do that.

James 4:7 says resist the devil and he will flee.

Whenever you are reminded of your past, that’s not the work of God. It’s the devils trick so resist him.

You are forgiven and that person he once knew is dead.

7. Christians have everything they need to be succesful and great, most are lazy

You don’t have to be poor or broke to be a successful believer on earth. That’s a wrong ideology and you need to get rid of it.

A lot of believers that loved God in the bible were all successful – Abraham, Isaac, David, Job, Gideon, Moses, Joseph and more.

It’s a proof of 1 Cor 2:9 – “eye have no seen, ears have no head, neither has it entered into the heart of man the things that God has for those that love him.”

There are keys to kingdom prosperity and to be prosperous as a believer, you  need to apply these keys.

Most chrristians fail to abide by these principles that’s the reason they’re broke and poor.

Also a lot of christains have lot of doctrinal bias about prosperity, therefore they cannot be prosperous on earth.

Conclusion

You have all you need to succeed as a Christian – Gods love, his word and the Holy Spirit.

Be willing to sacrifice your time and effort and you will succeed as a Christian on earth and of course in heaven.
